US should pay more attention to Azerbaijan - former US Permanent Representative to UN (EXCLUSIVE)

I would like to see the improvement of US-Azerbaijan relations, ex-special assistant to former US President George W. Bush, former adviser to the Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, former US permanent representative to the UN, Zalmay Khalilzad said in an exclusive interview to Vzglyad.az.

Khalilzad notes, US should pay more attention to Azerbaijan.

"Before, we had close relations. I think that the relations between countries should be improved and I  believe that this will happen. As the US relations with China and Russia becomes more competitive, each of them will try to find friends in this region and beyond," said Khalilzad.

Speaking about the importance of the Global Forum held in Baku, the former US ambassador to the United Nations underlined that this forum brought together prominent figures and politicians from all over the world where global issues were discussed.

"This forum is of utmost importance which brings prospects for the whole world - for America, Europe, Russia, China and other Asian countries, including Central Asia. The forum is a unique platform to discuss current and future trends in order to see if there is a common point of view among countries," Khalilzad added.
